Voicemail Instructions
  • How to dial out: When calling a number outside of the building, you will need to always dial “9” then the area code+phone number. Dialing inside the building, you just need to dial the last 4 digits of the phone number.
  • How do I access the voicemail system from inside the building?
    You will dial 5901 on your phone, or press the “message” button on your phone if you have one.
  • Can I check my messages from home, or from outside the building?
    Yes. You need to dial (617) 525-5901.
  • How do I retrieve my messages?
    A red light on your phone will alert you to messages or you will have an interrupted dial tone. Pick up the phone and press the “message button, or dial 5901. You will hear “Meridian Mail, Mailbox? Then dial your mailbox extension followed by the # key. Next you will hear, “Password?”, enter your password followed by the # key. You will then hear how many new messages you have. If you continue to listen, it will tell you the number the message came from (if known), and the date and time of the call. To listen to the message press 2. After listening, if you want to delete the message, press 76.
  • How do I change my greeting/password?
    To change your internal and external greetings, you must already be logged into to your voicemail as indicated above. Then press 8* (mailbox commands). To change your greeting press 2. It will then say, for your external greeting press 1, for your internal greeting press 2. You will need to record both internal and external greetings. If you want to change your password, press 4.
  • What is express messaging?
    You may leave a message for any mailbox in the CND without calling the specific extension and waiting for the voicemail to pick up. Just dial 5902, then dial the mailbox extension that you want followed by the # key.
  • Can I forward messages from my voicemail to someone else’s?
    Yes. After you have listened to the message you want to forward, press 73, then enter the mailbox number you wish to forward to followed by ## (example: 5555##) You also have the option of forwarding the message to multiple voicemail boxes. Once you have entered the mailbox number(s), press 79 to send immediately (or press 5 to record your own message ahead of the attached message followed by # then press 79 to send).
