Federal Express Shipping Policy
- Federal Express is the desired overnight transportation service for the Department of Neurology. There are two dedicated accounts set up for this service. One is for the HIM/NRB labs at the 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur address and the other account is for the labs at 65 Landsdowne Street. These accounts are for business purposes and are monitored monthly for proper charges. Each lab will be charged accordingly and grant numbers will be required to process all shipments.
- The procedure is that each Administrative Assistant for each lab has been given access to process Fedex air bills.
- When an individual needs to ship a package over night they are to supply the Administrative Assistants with the following information.
- The name of the company or institution that the package is going to.
- The first and last name of the individual to receive the package.
- The address of the individual and include any building or room numbers.
- The city, state, country and zip code of the recipient.
- The telephone number of the recipient.
- If dry ice is required and the estimated weight of the package with or with out dry ice.
- How the package is to be sent. Via Priority overnight, standard overnight, or 2 day service.
- A valid grant number. If the individual does not know what grant to charge the Administrative Assistant or the individual can obtain the proper grant number by contacting their PI’s Finance Manager. With out a grant number your order will not be processed
- Processing the request.
- Once the Administrative Assistant obtains all the information they will go to Fedex online and login. They will then fill in the shipping document and process your order. They should give you a copy of the air bill so that you can track your own package. Another option would be for the administrative Assistant to fill out the Shipment notification section. This is to notify you that a shipment has been picked up and delivered. It not only allows the sender to receive this information but the recipient and at least two other individuals as well. All the Administrative Assistant has to do is enter a valid email address for each one and check off the boxes for shipment notification and delivery notification and Fedex will send each one an email stating the shipment and delivery status of your package.
